Appointment System

When attending surgery for a prebooked appointment, we now have an automated arrivals system located in the waiting area near to the front door. Please report to the arrivals machine and register for your appointment, ensuring you press the 'Arrive Me' button when indicated. You will then be automatically called through for your appointment via information on the television screen in the waiting area.

YOU NO LONGER NEED TO REPORT TO RECEPTION

*MISSED APPOINTMENTS*

In August 2016, 84 GP appointments were missed, which could have been given to patients who really needed to be seen. Please have the courtesy to contact the surgery and cancel your appointment if it is no longer needed.

***************************************************************************************************

We have a number of prebookable appointments available up to 4 weeks in advance, please ask our receptionists if you would like to book one of these appointments. If you are unable to keep this appointment, please let us know.

In the past, we have tried to implement various appointment systems in order to meet the increasing and changing demands of our  patient population. We are continually trying our hardest to meet the requirements of the majority of our patients.

WE ALSO OFFER "BOOK ON THE DAY" APPOINTMENTS.

Please let the receptionist know which type of appointment you require when you call. There are only a limited number of 'on the day' appointments and these can only be booked by telephone or in person from 8.00am on the day concerned.

The telephone lines are very busy on Monday mornings and so we would ask you to ring at other times if at all possible.

The receptionist may offer you alternatives when you ring, such as the Walk In Centre at the Millennium Centre in St. Helens, an appointment with our nurse or a telephone consultation with the doctor.

Should you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, please contact the surgery as soon as possible so that your appointment is not wasted and can be given to another patient. We may remove patients from our list who regularly miss appointments and who fail to notify us accordingly.

Telephone Consultations

To Access This Service, Please Call Before 11am.

Our telephone consultations allow our doctors to assess the nature and severity of your condition. Also we feel that this system will allow you to access medical advice quickly without having to wait for the next available appointment. During the telephone consultation, the appropriate course of action needed will be decided between you and the doctor.

If you would like to speak to a doctor on the phone, please could you advise the receptionist who will take the necessary details and pass this on to the doctor. We will ring you back on the same day.
